Prelim report

Prelim report

Kieran Rogers

Our idea for the prelim task was to create a very atmospheric short storyline which is a character meeting another and exchanging money for a gun. We felt that this was a creative yet simple idea that we could pull off effectively with the time that we had. We based it on a dodgy deal theme which gave an intense effect and draw the viewer into the film. The journey of one of the characters across the car park was long and built up suspense.

I think that our prelim went very well because our group all had a good idea of what we wanted edit to look like which made the editing choices and decisions easy and quick. We included both fading in and out effects to black to show the viewer the start and end of the film. This adds intensity to the film and makes it more interesting. i think that this makes a good intro as it doesn’t just jump straight into the action.

Another thing that I think went very well in our prelim task was the variety and use of shots. We used shots such as over the shoulder shot to add a different perspective for the viewer to make them feel like they are included in the sequence. This shot worked very well and I am glad we took the time to include it. Also, we used a range of long, mid and close up shotsto give the viewer more details of the characters so emotion can be seen. I think they were used well in the conversation scenes to add intensity and atmosphere.

Our group for our coursework task, we have almost finished our storyboarding. We have a prop list, location list and list of actors together and prepared aswell as our production logo ready to be placed on our opening sequence. We all have a clear idea of what we are doing and I think that we can film it very accuratly to the storyboard. I have started doing the sound effects and looking at different editing tools for after our filming. I have also constructed our plan for what we need to film. We have everything ready for our filming and at the moment we are working on things such as the location anaylsis and the risk assesment.
